You know how sometimes you mishear a song lyric or a line in a film and it isn’t until someone corrects you that you can finally work out what was meant to be said?
An old friend was confused for years by the idea that Obi Wan Kenobi’s distress at feeling a disturbance in the force was like a “million oysters crying out”.
If that was the case, one can only assume the Galactic Empire took its Death Star test shot in a month containing the letter R and the rest of the George Lucas Star Wars saga would have been a very different beast. Less use the force and more use the forks.
This is a very tenuous, but perhaps mildly entertaining link to the fact that as August fast fades, the UK is heading into native oyster season.
To celebrate, D&D London’s Chelsea restaurant Bluebird is getting ready to host its annual oyster shucking contest. Once again competitors will be asked to shuck, dress and eat their oyster in as fast a time as possible.
